One of the wonderful things about traveling is the fascinating and talented people I’ve met along the way. Jane was sitting across from me on the train as we traipsed through the snow-capped mountains of Switzerland. Amidst getting snow blind and admiring the stunning landscapes, we talked about her labor of love Valour in Action, which was published in 2020. A huge undertaking that took over five years to complete.

Colonel Charles Waterhouse produced over 200 paintings of servicemen that received the Medal of Honor, which is now published in the limited edition book. It is a tribute to her father's dedication to memorializing these heroes on canvas.

The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation awarded Jane with the 2022 Col Joseph Alexander award for a distinguished work of biographical or autobiographical literature about a Marine.

She inspired me to write. We re-connected last year, to talk about her work, and the project I’d heard so much about on our Alpine journey.
