On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day belonging to the eleventh month of the year, we will be observing 2 minutes of silence.
That day is today.
We will remember the men and women who have served — and continue to serve and protect us during times of war and conflict.
Colonel Charles Waterhouse was one of these men. One we should remember not only for his service but his valiant effort to honor his fellow servicemen through his art. He left behind a legacy of over 200 paintings including almost 120 portraits of servicemen that received the ‘Medal of Honor’. Each of his paintings and sketches tells a story, of a soldier and an act of bravery — now frozen in time.
On his deathbed, he extracted a promise from his daughter; mystery writer Jane Waterhouse. She was to take on the huge task of bringing his dream to life, by publishing and narrating these moments of valor.
