Jinny is a debut author with her picture book ‘The Enchanted Suitcase: Preston’s Christmas Surprise’. Illustrated by Jenn Garside, it is out now in time for Christmas — a lovely Christmas surprise!

What is interesting about it is the backstory behind the concept of this book. It is a product of her extensive research, knowledge, and personal experience working with children with special educational needs. She is a recently retired teacher who is writing to bring interactive and inclusive storytelling to children, parents, and their teachers.

Before becoming a teacher, Jinny trained as a Dental technician. Now, if you made the egregious mistake of thinking this is a Dental Hygienist, I’m sorry to say you are misinformed. Like I was! She trained to manufacture dental prosthetics, such as bridges, crowns, and dentures. But before long, she wanted to be more creative. Combining her engineering background and her yearning to create, she turned to teaching. This also coincided with a time when there was an impetus to encourage women to go into engineering. And her next role as a design and technology teacher was a strategic move to encourage…
